Author Meets Reader Session with Percival Everett

n coordination with the Utah Humanities Book Festival, the Tanner Humanities Center will be hosting Percival Everett on October 29-30, 2024. Percival Everett, award-winning author and Distinguished Professor of English at the University of South California, will discuss his new book, James, an adaptation of Huck Finn from the perspective of Jim, now James. He will be in conversation with two faculty members from English, Rone Shavers, Associate Professor of Creative Writing, and Jeremy Rosen, Associate Professor of Contemporary Literature. Everett will hold a workshop before his lecture with the
creative writing students enrolled at the University of Utah.
In conjunction with Everett's event, Tanner Humanities Center Director, Scott Black, will be teaching a Lifelong Learning course that is open to all adult learners regardless of educational backgrounds focusing solely on Everett and his work.
