Humanities in the Wild: Writing & Restoration on the Bear River

Apr 20, 2024, 10:00 am

Please join us from 10a to 3p on Saturday, April 20, 2024 to celebrate the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge’s birthday with a day of restoration and writing grounded in the ecological and social histories of the Bear River. In addition to centering and celebrating the restoration work ongoing at Boa Ogoi, we’ll consider the restorative possibilities of environmental activism, the creative arts, and ecological knowledge facilitated by writers and ecologists from the University of Utah, Utah State University, and Utah State University Eastern.
Meet at the Visitor Center conference room at 10a for introductions before heading out into the refuge for eco-somatic writing and a tour with the center's biologist. We will have a break from noon to 1p for attendees to grab lunch nearby. You're also welcome to bring a lunch and eat at the refuge. In the afternoon, USU ecologists will discuss ongoing work and histories of the river's ecosystem.
