Crossroads Local Exhibit | Hurricane Canal: “All About The Water”

The need for irrigated water led a group of settlers to build the 7.5 mile Hurricane Canal carved by hand into the Virgin River Canyon between 1893 and 1906. The canal enabled the town of Hurricane to grow and develop into the prosperous Washington County community it is today.

Museum hours: Monday to Saturday 9am-5pm. Closed Sunday.

This exhibit accompanies the Museum on Main Street exhibition, Crossroads: Change in Rural America, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and Utah Humanities, touring in partnership with the Silver Reef Museum.
