McKay Nicholl: Shakespeare, Our Contemporary

McKay Nicholl addresses the roots of social dysfunction when power leads to violence or class exclusion. This modern take of Shakespeare's Tempest that follows the humanities event sets the play in 1800s Whaler's New England, where the audience can immediately see the contemporary version of characters that work . through a purgatory of discovery about truth in our relationships and the right use of power. Our discussion in the Humanities event will illumine the relevant ideas in the Shakespeare play
