The Shadow of the Hummingbird Book Discussion
Apr 22, 2017, 10:30 am
The Shadow of the Hummingbird by Athol Fugard tells the story of an ailing man in his eighties and the afternoon spent with his ten year-old grandson. The author explores the ideas of wonder and imagination vs. intellectualism and the challenges and triumphs of aging. The discussion will be led by scholar Nkenna Onwuzuru-oha.
The Art Access Book Group investigates how and why people with disabilities, and other underrepresented populations, have been depicted in literary texts and considers the historical, social, and cultural impact of these depictions.
